Nail Manicure

All Things Gel Polish

From manicures for hands to pedicures for feet we really love a good pampering session for our nails.

And while a good salon is without doubt one of life’s luxuries that we look forward to, on the odd occasion it may be more prudent to undertake a little nail upgrade ourselves.

Nail varnishes have been around years and come in a variety of colours and finishes. A relative newcomer to the market however is gel polish. While a good nail varnish will last quite a few days without chipping a correctly applied gel polish manicure can stay intact for upwards of two weeks. In fact, the nail starts to grow out before the polish needs removing and reapplying.

There are many finishes and shades similar to nail varnish that can be found in the gel polish camp.

The gel polish manicure consists of a base coat, a colour coat, and then a hardening topcoat for protection. After each of these layers are applied the coat is cured under a UV light for 30 seconds or more, depending on the strength of the light.

Gel polish can be used to apply a French manicure, a glitzy glitter finish, a simple colour, temperature changing gel colour, and magnetic cats eye, a blossom effect, or an ombre effect.

All in all, there will be something available in gel polish that everyone will find appealing to them and their individual tastes.

CND were the first manufacturers to produce a gel polish and is still one of the leaders in this market today. However, there are many pretenders to the throne, and some of them are cheaper with the same quality of the original CND gel polish. One of these is Bluesky gel polish and is available worldwide. While CND is restricted to under 100 colours, the Bluesky manufacturers keep churning out new colours on a frequent basis. To date they have created over 1000 colours. And while this may seem a little excessive does give us the consumer lots of choice.

So why not give gel polish ago, a lamp and starter pack of gels can be had for under £50. Try it, you’re going to like it.
