Sinful Colors What's Your Name?

Let me start off by saying I don't mean to bash Sinful Colors. I know some people love them, but I have just never been able to get their polishes to work for me. Have you ever heard how a person's body chemistry just doesn't mesh with a certain formula? Well, I don't know if I really buy into that, but I'm starting to believe that my body chemistry doesn't mesh with the Sinful Colors formula. I have yet to have a good experience with any of their polishes I've tried. I thought What's Your Name? would be the polish to prove my theory wrong, but it was just not to be.

What's Your Name? is a black base with teal shimmer. Once you build it up, though, it looks like more of a dark green and the shimmer isn't as apparent. It took three coats for full coverage, and the application wasn't great--although a shimmer, it was streaky and goopy. Blech.

What have your experiences been with Sinful Colors? Is there any brand that just doesn't work with you? Do share!
these products were given to me in a swap. see disclosure policy for more information

  1. Funny you should mention having a brand that doesn't seem to work for you...

It may be hard for some to believe, but I really have trouble with Zoya for some reason. It seems like on me the polish dries too quickly to get even on my nail, and yet when I go to put on another coat, it's still too goopy. Also, I have trouble with their brush and getting enough polish on it.

Nevertheless, I have a TON of Zoyas that I love :o)

  2. I really like Sinful Colors... I have about 30 of them. What's Your Name looked better in the bottle but I still think it's pretty cool. The only thing that bugs me sometime with Sinful Colors is that a lot of them are very sheer.

  5. I agree with Tierney above me, a lot of my Sinful Colors polishes are too sheer and need more coats than I thought at first, but their formula seems to work for me.
However I can have some problems sometimes, like it happened yesterday. I spent about one jour and a half in the morning, trying to have a correct manicure with a new Maybelline polish I had just bought... I never worked, the polish was thick and I couldn't have a single coat right, it was a total mess, and I nearly threw my bottle out the window... and then in the evening I tried again, with the same polish, and it went perfectly well. I still can't explain it, but polishes apparently deserve (a lot of) second chances :)
    Have a great day!

  7. I like Sinful Colors. I can't say that any brand stays on me for long. Maybe a few days. Always get tip wear. I guess if I followed all the good hints like tip wrapping it would be okay. I just don't have any nail tips! I think every brand you get a bottle or more that are thick or thin. I guess it's the luck of the draw.
