China Glaze Naughty and Nice Collection [Part 1 of 4]

Well, the whole name of the collection is 'Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice, but that's pretty long, so...I'm incredibly excited that China Glaze is giving us sixteen new polishes for the holiday season! Sixteen! Let's take a look, shall we?

Snow is a basic white creme. It's pretty soft-looking in real life and not chalky or terribly stark like some others. The formula isn't my favorite, but I used one thin coat, one thick coat, and then one medium coat to kind of fill in all the streaky spots.

Midnight Kisses is a gorgeous gold foil. Opaque in two coats, and dries quickly. This is definitely one of my favorites in the collection!

Ruby Deer is a basic red. It has a wonderful application and takes two coats. I have some like this in my collection, but if you're in the market for a nice, holiday red this one should do the trick.

Finally there's Peace on Earth, which is a metallic olive green shimmer. It flashes brown in some lights, but below is a much more accurate picture, color-wise.
It's not really my type of color and I probably wouldn't wear it, but I still like it. Pretty funky for a holiday collection, and I like that.

Opinions? The rest will be up sometime soon; I had some camera issues, lighting issues, and timing issues, so this is the third time I've swatched these haha. I also just chopped all my nails off short, but I kind of like how they look.

Also, don't forget to enter the Naughty or Nice giveaway here, where the winner will receive all sixteen polishes (each used for swatching only.) There will be second and third place prizes, as well. Hope everyone has a great week!

Nicole by OPI Liquid Metals Collection

Happy Black Friday, all! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving and today, however you choose to celebrate it. I personally lounged around all day and purposely avoided the mall--I saw some people that were lined up since Wednesday morning at some stores! Just thought I'd share these promo pics...am I the only person that wishes that Nicole by OPI would release larger collections, instead of just four or so at a time?

"Dress your nails with Liquid Metals to make a chic fashion statement with a high-shine finish," says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI's Executive VP and Artistic Director. "Metallic shades are perfect to wear with all clothing colors, adding some easy edge to your wardrobe."

Miss Independent
A violet with a shine of its own

The Next CEO
A highly motivated metallic gold

Rich in Spirit
This metallic silvery blue-green is all you really need

It Starts With Me
A metallic champagne that channels your inner shine

Thoughts? Metallics can be kick-ass or disastrous, depending on the formula. If they're streak-free, I'm in love...what do we think? Excited for these, or are they a pass?

The Awesome Version: OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees

Like I said in the past...wasn't a big fan of OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees. I love the idea, but it was just a little lackluster for me. Instead of starting a completely new mani, I threw a layer of OPI Wing It! on top of it. The results? Awesomeness.

Over the blue charcoal base it became a magenta shimmer that flashed blue. Pictures could not accurately capture this honey of a manicure! So prepare for one or two normal pictures and about twenty blurry ones.

...and then lots of blurry shots to show off the sparkle and how the color changes!

If you've made it this far, congratulations!

Tagged! Survey...

A few awesome people have tagged me for awards, but I've never actually posted it; I forget, or I don't know what to say, or I keep putting it off. So instead, this is my tag thingy. And I tag everybody! Haha, but seriously, do it if you're interested. These are pretty fun if you're trying to procrastinate.

What is on your bed right now?
My laptop, blankets, cell phone, book, tv changer...and me!

Do you floss?
Once a week. I should probably do it more often...

What's your favorite word or phrase?
Favorite word hands down is "ergo." No idea why. But I love it.

Name one thing that scares you?
The garbage disposal. Seriously, I am terrified that somehow I will get my hand stuck in there and grind it up.

What comes to mind when you hear the word "cabbage?"
Corned beef. I'm very Irish, by the way. My mom makes a mean corned beef and cabbage dinner.

Can you use chopsticks?
Yeah.

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas. The whole holiday season in general. It's cheesy, but it's my favorite time of the year for many reasons.

Do you have any tattoos?
I want one, in white ink. But I don't know how my body will take it...some people's skin rejects it, or the ink fades weird. So I'd probably do a little test patch, hopefully soon. So, no, haha. I don't have one.

What would you name your future daughter?
I like Madeleine or Zoe.

What kind of toothpaste do you use?
Crest Wintergreen. It's hard to find in some places, too. Last time I bought three tubes of it, so I'm set for a while.

What was the last thing you had to drink?
Water.

Have you ever run over an animal?
Ugh, yes. Rest in peace, little turtle.

What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?
Pet Semetary. Holy crap. I don't care what anyone says; I tried rewatching it this Halloween and it still scared the hell out of me. That Zelda lady!

Do you rip the paper off of water bottles?
No, and I hate when people do that! I don't know why, but it drives me nuts! Also when people chew on their drinking straws, haha.

Do you believe in astrology?
To a certain extent. I feel like the characteristics of my sign are pretty accurate, but then, I'd probably say that if it was a different sign, too.

Have you ever stolen anything?
When I was five I accidentally walked out of the craft store without paying for these magnets I was carrying around and when we got to the car my mom realized and we went back in to pay for them and I was terrified that I was going to be arrested.

How many pillows do you sleep with?
I have two; I usually end up with none.

Favorite singer/band?
Billy Joel, Queen, Elton John, Spice Girls, Frank Sinatra.

Ever go camping?
Bleh. Yes. I am really not an outdoors person.

Do you have a tan?
Ha.

Have you ever lost anything down a toilet?
I dropped my phone in the toilet once. I mean, I fished it out, but it didn't work after that.

Have you ever been in a fistfight?
Not since I was about eight...but a lot of my friends were guys, and it was just easier to beat the crap out of each other than to work it out.

Do you use smiley faces on the computer alot?
Yes. I feel like it lightens the tone...I don't want to come off as too serious :)

What is your favorite movie?
The Sound of Music. No contest. I have a lot of favorites, but this one is always tops.

What did your last text message say?
Um, or not...crazy person. My brother, after I suggested he become a mathlete like Kevin G in Mean Girls. Long story.

Ever won a spelling bee?
In third grade. My word was independence. Yeah, that's right. FOUR syllables, folks.

Black or green olives?
Black, definitely.

Do you know the words to the Canadian national anthem?
Wow, random. But yeah, I do haha. It's a gorgeous song, I think.

Do you like to play chess?
No. I don't even remember how to play.

Have you ever touched an elephant?
Haha, yes. I rode one at the circus once.

Spell your name without vowels?
rr

Can you lick your elbow?
No. But I have tried, I'll admit. Many times.

What is your birthstone?
Ruby.

Did you ever like somebody who didn't like you back?
Seventh grade. Yeah, he hated me. But I don't think he knew I liked him.

Do you like waffles?
I love waffles.

Do you have a dog?
Shep!

Last person you talked to on the phone?
Novio.

Are you a good cook?
If I didn't have a microwave, I would probably starve to death.

Have you ever gone SCUBA diving?
In a pool.

Have you ever tried to bite your dentist?
Wow. I did bite him once, but not intentionally.

Have you ever broken the law?
Yeah. What a rebel.

Do you like cottage cheese?
I actually hate cottage cheese. Ew.

Last movie you saw?
Stranded...some crappy Lifetime movie.

Google your first name...what's the first link that pops up?
Wikipedia article on aurora borealis.

Regular or chocolate milk?
Chocolate!

Are you jealous of anyone?
Honestly, yes. I am quite jealous of a few specific people...it comes and goes.

Are you married?
Negative.

Have you ever toilet papered someone's house?
My friends did, but I was too scared, so I just did the mailbox. And then I felt bad for weeks afterwards.

Do any of your friends have children?
Yep.

Are you an aunt or uncle?
Nope.

What would you do if a llama jumped out of the bushes and proceeded to beat you up?
Probably lay off the hallucinogens?

What's on your bedroom floor right now?
Tons and tons of stuff.

What do you think about ferrets?
They're cute, but they smell awful.

Do you own more than five Sharpies?
Actually, I think I own five.

Have you ever gone to sleepaway camp?
Haha. Yes.

When was the last time you cussed at somebody?
A few days ago when someone cut me off when I was driving.

How did u get one of your scars?
I fell off my bike and into a ditch in Sweden. There is a gorgeous scar on my knee to remind me  :)

OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees

I'd seen this color before on other blogs. I'd seen it in Ulta. I'd wanted to buy it for a long time. And then I discovered...that I'd bought it already and completely forgot about it. Sad, I know. Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees is a grayed out black that has a little blue in it.

I like it in the picture, but in person, I think it falls flat. It was so boring to me, in fact, that I had to change my mani after about two hours. More on that later.

Do you guys like this color? I like the idea of the blueish charcoal, but it's just missing a little something extra. Thoughts?

Purple Giveaway Winner!

Congrats congrats to ipehishere, who won my purple giveaway! If you haven't already, check out her blog here!

I was floored by how many people entered, which just makes me that much more excited about the giveaway that's coming in the very near future (like, this week hehe)

Nicole by OPI Holiday Magic Preview

Capture the enchanting spirit of the holiday season with Holiday Magic from Nicole by OPI! For Holiday 2010, Nicole by OPI presents a limited-edition collection of four celebratory shades, ranging from sparkling silver to deep red. Designed to complement winter wardrobes, these festive hues add a magical touch to any occasion.

Bring On the Tinsel
A silver that sparkles even more than tinsel.

Kiss Me at Midnight
This dark red is perfect for night, the best time for a kiss.

Spark My Mistletoe
A red so hot it might cause a real spark.

Stuck in the Chimney
You’ll never forget this red – it will be stuck in your mind.

What do you think? Personally I'm excited for Spark My Mistletoe and Bring On the Tinsel. I wonder if Bring On the Tinsel has some brown in it, or if that's just the picture? I wish there was a little bit more variety, though, color-wise. Any polishes jump out at you?

Teal Comparison OPI Ski Teal We Drop vs. Color Club Gossip Column

Now that I've eaten my weight in chocolate covered pretzels, it's time for a blog post! Let's compare OPI Ski Teal We Drop and Color Club Gossip Column!

In sunlight or artificial light you can definitely see the difference; Gossip Column is a truer blue, whereas Ski Teal We Drop is more a blacker teal. In the shade, though, it can be hard to tell the difference. I couldn't, of course, get a decent picture in the shade, so you'll just have to trust me on that one :)

Also, you may have noticed I changed my comment format. It should make it easier for me to reply to individual comments and questions. If anyone has any problems, please please please tell me!
***UPDATE: I am going to keep using the Blogger comment form. Sorry for any confusion!

Piggy Polish Blue-ty Call

Haha. I like that name. Blue-ty Call.

This is the only Piggy Polish I've ever tried, but I was quite pleased.

Pretty, right? Looove it! It's sheer, but builds, and I above is three coats. A really shimmery light blue that flashes purple. Below is a blurry picture that captures its other colors.

What do you think? Have you guys tried Piggy Polish before? What were your experiences?

Gold OPI Comparison

I had really wanted to be in bed and asleep by ten tonight, but I can't fall asleep, so...

OPI Glitzerland and OPI Dazzled By Gold
Dazzled by Gold is more gold, while Glitzerland is blonde-er and has more of a champagne color. Above is three coats of each. They each have a kind of foil quality, but Dazzled by Gold is more foil-y.

Essie The Winter Collection Preview

This winter Essie is bringing us the Winter Collection. If it has another name that I don't know of, somebody tell me...

I'm sorry, but am I the only person who feels like we've seen these colors before? These just aren't exciting to me. Maybe I'll be completely wrong, but until then I am calling this collection a big yawn.

Purple Giveaway!

After my Green Giveaway, I really wanted to do another one. Addicting! Giveaways are like crack! Although, I should probably mention that I've never used crack, so I can't definitively say that the two are similar, but anyway. Three random purple polishes:

Winner receives Color Club Ms. Socialite, China Glaze Flying Dragon, and BB Couture Huckleberry Martini.
Please note: These polishes are lightly used, with almost all of the polish still left in the bottle.

Also, this is not the wild awesome giveaway I was talking about...that's still coming, but in the meantime, these purple babies are up for grabs!

The Rules:

1. You must be a follower.

2. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this post with your email address.

3. For any extra entries (one extra entry for each of the following; please send me the link!)

     - Tweet about this giveaway

     - Post about this giveaway on your blog somewhere

Green Giveaway Winner!

Aight ladies, throw it down fo Joanne, who won the Green Giveaway! She has claimed her prize and I am sending it out to her tomorrow. Check out her blog here! In addition to reviewing products, she blogs about giveaways around the world!

Again, thank you so much for entering! And like I said, there is another giveaway coming up pretty soon, so be on the lookout!

Edit: Whoops! Forget to mention this. Just so everyone knows how I picked the winner, I assigned everyone a number (or numbers, depending on how many entries they had) and then used random.org to choose a number. :D

Green Giveaway has ended!

Thanks to all who entered...I was blown away by you guys' participation! If you didn't win this time, don't fret...there is another giveaway coming up very soon and it's pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!

The winner will be announced after I get in touch with her!
