Vampy Comparison: Color Club Ready to Royal vs. OPI William Tell Me About OPI

Wow, that is an obnoxiously long title. I meant to compare these two polishes ages ago, but...well, I've compared them now so here we go.

Color Club Ready to Royal and OPI William Tell Me About OPI.

Ready to Royal is definitely a darker color that leans more towards black. William Tell Me About OPI is more wine-colored. As far as formulas go, they were pretty much equal, and although you can't beat OPI's Prowide brush, it really just depends on which shade you prefer. And then, just for fun...

Even though Color Club Catwalk Queen and Groove Thang are shimmers, I compared them next to Ready to Royal and William Tell Me About OPI. Catwalk Queen is redder than all the others, and Groove Thang is more blue. From darkest to lightest, they'd be: Ready to Royal, Groove Thang, William Tell Me About OPI, and Catwalk Queen.

These vampy colors were popular this fall, so plenty of brands came out with their own versions. Groove Thang and Catwalk Queen are from fall 2009.

OPI Collaborates with Serena Williams!

Serena Williams is a famous tennis star, but did you know she also describes herself as "manic about her nails." She's also working to receive her nail technician's license! Now she's partnering with OPI to crank out the Glam Slam Collection, out in January 2011.

Simply Smashing is described as a glowing green...I'm pretty intrigued by this one!

Black Shatter is the crackle topcoat that leaves a "leopard print-style pattern on each nail."

I wish there were more colors, but hey, I'm still pretty excited for this funky-looking green and top coat. Thoughts?

OPI Collaborates with Katy Perry!

I'm sure you guys have already heard about OPI's future collections, The Katy Perry Collection and Glam Slam Collection, created with tennis star Serena Williams, coming in January 2011! But I'm here to reiterate, and to get all giddy about these future polishes...so let's take a closer look at Katy Perry and OPI's handiwork, shall we?

The Katy Perry Collection is inspired by her latest album, Teenage Dream.

Teenage Dream
A dreamy pink glitter that you're sure to crush on!

The One That Got Away
You always thought you'd marry this amazing deep berry.

Not Like the Movies
This sultry silver is the real deal.

Last Friday Night
T.G.I.F. = This Glittery-blue Is Fierce!

The Black Shatter topcoat will also be released with this collection.

I'm ridiculously excited for this collection, mostly because Katy Perry is part of it! I think Katy Perry is absolutely adorable, funky, and talented. I am dying over Last Friday Night and Teenage Dream...the other two are kind of meh for me, but here's to hoping I'm pleasantly surprised!

What do you guys think? Loving them, or are they a "pass" for you?

Zoya Kym

Meh. That's what I have to say about Zoya Kym. It's my first Zoya polish, but I'm not terribly impressed. This polish just isn't working out for me.

It was pretty hard to apply; I had a bunch of bald spots. Its drying time was exceptionally long. Certainly not impossible to work with, but not ideal. Have you guys tried this one? What did you think?

On a completely unrelated note, if you are a fan of the Jackass guys, head out and see Jackass 3D. Hilarious. Jackass Number Two is still my favorite, but the third is definitely worth seeing!

OPI Jade is the New Black

I bought OPI Jade is the New Black a while ago and I've worn it several times, but I'd never reviewed it, so here we go:

Okay, now nobody freak out with what I'm going to tell you. Remain calm, and do NOT throw stuff at your computer screen, no matter how strong the urge. Scream if you like, but not loud enough to scare your neighbors.
Ready? I don't like this polish. GASP!

I know everybody and her mother is positively batty about this polish, but I am decidedly not. Now, before I list what I don't like about it, let me say what I do like about it: the formula. Impeccable. Seriously, just flows onto the nail, dries quickly, completely opaque in two coats, not streaky at all.

But I'm just not feeling the color. It's sad, because on the nail, it's just a hair away from being drop dead gorgeous, but I feel like it lacks something and, therefore, falls flat. If it had a drop more of dusty blue color in it, I'd probably love it, but it doesn't and I don't. I was so excited when I saw the promos and now that it's here, I just...meh.

Sorry about the application by the way...my hand was so shaky today, I couldn't believe it. I'll be giving this polish away in a giveaway soon, along with two other green polishes in honor of Depression Awareness, so stay tuned!

Depression Awareness Month Mani!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it is also Depression Awareness Month. Often times depression is not considered a "real illness," but it 100% is.

2/3 of those suffering from depression do not seek treatment.
Women experience depression twice as much as men.
17.5 million Americans are affected by some type of depression.
   Washington School of Medicine

I've suffered from depression, and hopefully by spreading awareness, others that suffer will seek treatment, as I did. The ribbon for depression awareness is green, so what better polish for my nails than my favorite green, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle?

For some reason the flash makes it look like I have a few bald spots on my nails, but in reality it's an even finish. Hmm...and yeah, I had to add Color Club Covered in Diamonds to this one, too.

It kind of looks like tinsel on a Christmas tree.

Thanks for looking!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Mani!

Nail polish might be a trivial way to spread awareness, but there's no wrong way to spread awareness, so here we go. I used Entity Pearl Fuchsia, from the Entity Pearl Collection, my favorite pink.

Tyra Banks's Mask...What Do YOU Think?

Okay, okay, Tyra Banks. Some love her, some hate her. I like her. But WHAT is she wearing here?

Tyra Banks wears a homemade mask at a masquerade ball for French Vogue's 90th anniversary.

Says Ms. Banks: "sum cheap FISHNET stockings I got n crazy store n Paris! I cut em up and made it y'all." Okay, so spelling isn't her forte. Try and look past that.

Now, I might be the only one, but...I'm kinda diggin' this look. It's almost like a spiderweb...just in time for Halloween, right?

What do YOU think? Crazy? Fashionable? Hot or a hot mess?
