Cuddly kitties!

Naptime for the baby kitties! They've started chasing my boyfriend wherever he goes. Except they're still kind of crawling at this point.

Glitter Gal 3D Holographic Copper

First Glitter Gal polish, but definitely not my last! Keep reading and you'll figure out why.

I'd seen Glitter Gal polishes on some blogs, but I'd never seen them around me. Well, a little research always helps; it's an Australian company! Below I have Copper from the 3D Holographic and Sparkle Collection.

Don't you just love the rosy color? I wish it wasn't pouring down rain so I could see it in the sun, but according to the weatherman, that's not gonna happen any time soon. The wear was great; five days and only a slight chip on my right index tip. Beautiful, right?

Have you guys tried any Glitter Gal polishes? What were your experiences? Glitter Gal polishes can be found here at their website.

G2 Organics DNA Polishes

Organic nail polish...does it get any better than that? In a word, nope. So here for you I have this cool trio of polishes called DNA from G2 Organics! A little back story, and then the polishes!

The Co-founders of G2 Organics LLC, Cherie Corso and Marie-Elena Lamari, infuse love and positive spiritual energy into every one of their all natural, organic, non-toxic, and non-polluting beauty products.

Marie and Cherie share a common goal of providing consumers with a choice: better beauty products with natural ingredients and no harsh chemicals. And, they view G2 Organics as a way to empower people to live happier, healthier, more positive lives. To honor both of their mothers, a portion of the proceeds from every G2 Organics product supports cancer research and education.

The DNA Nail Polish Set is composed of three colors:
Dark, Natural, and Alchemy. Check them out below!

Natural is very, very natural. It's a milky pink, but super super super sheer. This is three coats. Perfect for a natural nail color, but not for me.

Dark is a brown-based black that dries completely black. It is a thin formula but opaque in two coats.
Incredibly shiny, too, as you can see in the above pic.

Alchemy. Dear, sweet Alchemy. I'm smitten! Alchemy is a deep plum with a blue shimmer. Incredible on the nail. Two coats and it was opaque.
I wish my pictures did it justice.

G2 Organics also has an organic nail polish remover, which worked like a dream on these polishes. I have yet to try it on another brand of polishes, though. Each bottle of polish comes with a little mini bottle for touch-ups on the go.

Polish Ingredients: [95% Organic]
Water Acrylate, Copoymer, Titanium Dioxide, Propylene Glycol, Neolone 950, Mica, Red, Blue, Black

Polish Remover Ingredients:
Aloe Vera, Butyl Diglycol, Embittering Agent, Ethyl Alcohol, Vitamin E, Spiritually Enhancing Reiki Charged Crystals

What do you think? Have you guys tried any G2 Organics products? Do you prefer your nail polish all natural?

A wedding and a funeral...

Wheeeeeew. I finally feel like I'm back in the swing of things! Whatever that really means. This past weekend I was in Long Island for my cousin's wedding and then my great-grandmother's funeral, and I just now caught up on everything!

The wedding was just fabulous. Seriously, that's what I want my wedding to look like. It was just so elegant and understated. If my uncle ever sends me the pictures he snapped of me dancing like a lunatic, I'll post 'em up here just for the hell of it. I am beyond thrilled for my cousin B and his new bride, C! They are two crazy fun, crazy smart, crazy amazing people, and I'm so happy they've found each other.

My great-grandmother's funeral was also wonderful, in a different way. At 105 years old, we can only really marvel at the life she lived, the things she saw, and wonder how not one person can remember a time when she was angry or upset. She drove until she was 99 and lived alone until she was 101. She made sculptures out of seashells she found at the beach and kept a huge bottle of Jack Daniels under the bathroom sink. There is not one picture of her where she isn't smiling or laughing.

One of my favorite stories of her is the time she fell, broke her nose, and called my grandparents to take her to the hospital. When they got to her house she was smiling in spite of everything, and as they tried to rush her into the car, she adamantly refused. When they pressed her, she simply told them why she would not budge: she was not going to leave the house looking anything less than perfect; she had just painted her nails and they were going to sit and wait until they were sufficiently dry before they rushed out to the ER like a bunch of unkempt lunatics.

Her funeral was just how she would have wanted it: a joyous occasion recounting all of the great times we had with her. It is sad to know she is gone until we remember the great life she lived. I have literally nothing but fond memories of her and I am happy to know she is at peace.

Wow. I appreciate you letting me just let it all out here! Soon there will be real posts, I promise. But for now, I'm treasuring the time I spent with my family this past weekend! Ciao!

Kittens Update

What's up, world? Still no polish pictures...we've been totally swamped preparing for my boyfriend's sister's quinceañera, which is this Saturday. For those of you who don't know, a quinceañera is a coming-of-age tradition for Hispanic girls turning 15. Literally, the name means a fifteen year-er, and she's been planning it for months (well, okay, since she was a little girl.) More details on that later, though.

This post is about kittens, of course. For their admiring fans, I have some more pictures. No real updates...I just wanted a reason to post the pics. They still can't walk, so they're kind of army crawling everywhere. And by "everywhere," I mean to their mother and around the box they're hanging out in. Eyes and ears are still shut.

Always happy to see us!

The one on the right fell asleep eating!

The little gray is camouflaged against the mom's tail.

Multitasking mom feeding and bathing her little one.

Mommy's twin.

The runt of the litter.

The biggest one...blurry picture :/

And that is all for right now! Hope you enjoy :)

Newborn Kittens

Okay, this has nothing to do with nail polish, but can anyone resist newborn kittens? Didn't think so. My boyfriend's stray cat had three babies, and I took a few pictures of them right after they were born. They're crappy shots, because I didn't want to use the flash around the babies (except the first picture...whoops!) but they're still pretty freaking adorable, if I do say so myself.

Mommy and her babies.

She's spent all day cleaning them, and then napping, and then cleaning them again.

They all fight over the same nipple.

Just like a human baby, a kitten doesn't do much more than eat and sleep the first few days, with their eyes and ears shut.

It's hard to see, but there are three there!

Adorable, right? And Azura, the mommy, is still as playful as ever.

My boyfriend and one of the babies.

Honestly, they look more like little rats at this point, but very, very cute little rats!

Proud momma and her little ones.

I know these babies are heartbreakingly cute, but PLEASE remember to spay and neuter your cats and dogs! Thankfully, we were here to take care of them, but there are so many strays that have kittens in the wild, which just leaves more animals in need of a good home. As always, if you are considering to get a new friend, I ask you to please adopt a pet at any local shelter. Thanks for looking, and I'll definitely have updates as the babies get older!

Maybelline Colorama Peach Daiquiri

My face is still about twice the size as it normally is, but the medicine (and nail polish) helps, so it's cool. Today I have another Maybelline Colorama polish for you: Peach Daiquiri. It's an orange-red-pink base with a glass-flecked quality that China Glaze is known for.

This one applies wonderfully! Three thin coats, and it glides onto the nail. It isn't terrible to remove, but there are a few little pieces of glitter left behind on the fingers, so I just rinsed my hands off in the sink. I can't be sure if this one is still available everywhere, but I've seen it in drugstores recently, so I assume it is still being made. It dries almost smooth, so a topcoat wouldn't hurt, either.

Maybelline Colorama Coral Reef

A few summers ago my mother and I went through this weird phase where we were obsessed with Maybelline Colorama polishes and bought a new one like every three days. I dug a few of them up today and tried them on again, and I remember why we loved them so much.

A fun, coral color with a peachy undertone. It gets a bit thick, so three coats is required to even it all out. One thing I like about the Colorama brushes is that they're thick, and, though they're round, they flatten as you apply pressure, so they cover very nicely. I'm not sure when this was released--at least a few years ago--but I have seen this one in stores recently, so I assume this color is still in circulation.
